Winter is coming - and to prepare yourself properly for it you're going to need more than a big sword and a direwolf. You need, in fact, the new issue of Empire, which contains not one but three massive previews of the winter season. We have gathered reports on the most exciting movies, TV shows and games for the cold months ahead, and the result is pretty darn exciting indeed. David Fincher's Gone Girl leads the movie line-up, alongside Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods & Kings and Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. Oh, and we have Joss Whedon talking Avengers: Age Of Ultron for good measure, if looking further ahead into spring is more your thing. It is, in a word, essential, and you should immediately stop reading this email and head out to get your own copy - or subscribe to ensure that you never miss an issue.

The Many Deaths Of Sean Bean
An actor who's always likely to end a movie a lot less alive than he started it, Sean Bean is swiftly catching up with the likes of Dennis Hopper and Vincent Price as the master of the on-screen termination. The Yorkshireman has more than 20 death scenes to his name across film and television, enough to prompt his new crime show Legends to promote itself with the hashtag #DontKillSeanBean.

The Empire Podcast #126: Jon Hamm, Richard Ayoade.
After several weeks' of hype, the Richard Ayoade interview you've been waiting for is finally here, accompanied by some Mad Man - you see? Because of the TV show? And humour? - called Jon Hamm, with the former here to talk about The Double's Blu-ray release and the latter discussing Million Dollar Arm's cinema release. And beards.

15 Of The Weirdest TV Cameos Of All Time
Some TV shows are built for star cameos, like Extras, Life's Too Short, Entourage and Glee. Some are lucky enough to have before-they-were-famous "cameos", like Casualty, The Bill and Midsomer Murders. But others, particularly soaps and long-running sitcoms, indulge in the odd celebrity guest, and occasionally they are very odd indeed. In this list we celebrate the incongruous inclusion of folk far too famous to be slumming it on the small screen like this - and be sure to chip in with your own favourites in the comment box below.

    Richard Attenborough: In Celebration
Richard Attenborough will be identified with different characters for each generation of filmgoers over the last half-century or more, forever in our memories threatening people in Brighton, striding through the lush greenery of Isla Nublar or playing Father Christmas himself. But his career is filled with great work on both sides of the camera, so to celebrate the man affectionately known as "Dickie", we take a look at some of his greatest moments on-screen and off...

The 36 Best Film-Related Ice Bucket Challenges - Updated!
By now you're definitely getting sick of ice-bucket challenges, at least if you spend any time on social media. But they keep spreading exponentially, and some huge names have gotten involved, successfully raising awareness of and money for ALS (for the equivalent UK charity, the MND Association which offers help to ALS sufferers has taken up the cause; you can donate here ). Now it's not really impressive when sports people take ice baths - they do it all the time to prevent muscle swelling - and it's pleasant but not relevant to this site when politicians do it, but pampered movie types? That's more of a result - and here are some of the best...

    Rogues Gallery: Powers Boothe
As possessor of one of Hollywood's greatest cold stares, Powers Boothe is responsible for a myriad moments of premium villainy, not least the bit in Sudden Death where he fixes his Medusa-gaze on a sobbing child and threatens to fill her mouth with spiders. "When I first came out to LA, I did quite a few roles where I actually ended up with the girl," the 66 year-old tells Empire. "But one thing has led to another and I've ended up playing a lot of heavies. I don't mind: they're more fun and often more memorable." As Sin City: A Dame To Kill For arrives in cinemas, with Boothe reprising his role as the diabolical Senator Roark, we asked the actor to talk us through his cornucopia of creeps.

How Much Is A Pint Of Milk: Vinnie Jones
He's the hardest man in...well, most things, but he's made a serious dent in some serous films over the years including his unforgettable turn as Big Chris in Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and slightly more forgettable Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand. We sat down with the tough guy to put him through his Empire paces.

    Locke

There are films to see on huge screens, but this is one that almost cries out for a small cinema, surrounded by total blackness. It's a daring experiment brilliantly executed, with Tom Hardy giving one of the performances of his career.
