| This Week... This week we're bringing you more interviews than you could possibly imagine in the Empire podcast . Well, assuming the limit of your imagination is four, anyway. We have Jon Hamm talking Friends With Benefits and claiming that he's naked from the waist down, we have William Friedkin on being a legend and going for fried chicken; we have Stellan Skarsgard on Avengers and more, and we have Amazing Spider-Man producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach on their friendly neighbourhood reboot. It's been a busy week, in other words, and with a wealth of Batman coverage starting on Sunday ahead of the release of The Dark Knight Rises, it's only going to get busier. Have a gander at the features below and see what takes your fancy... Willem Dafoe Webchat - Monday July 2 Willem Dafoe, possibly the only actor in history to play both Jesus and the Green Goblin, is visiting the Empire offices on Monday July 2, 12.45 BST to talk about his new film, The Hunter. That seems him playing (yes) a hunter searching for the last of the Tasmanian Tigers on behalf of a biotech company, and encountering hostility from the locals. This follows his appearance in John Carter earlier this year, wherein Dafoe had four arms and spoke Martian, and a career that's seen him play everything from vampires to Vietnam soldiers. So come along and ask about his storied career and future plans - or just his favourite sandwich... Helen O'Hara Deputy Editor, Empire | | |

| | | | | Edinburgh & Aruba Film Festival Coverage Two film festivals have been underway this week. You've probably already heard about the Edinburgh International Film Festival taking place north of the border, but the Aruba International Film Festival has also been underway, so we got our team to draw straws to see who'd go to which. Stephen Carty was the lucky winner to head to the Scottish capital, and poor Simon Braund had to make do with the southern Caribbean. Hang in there, man, we're all thinking of you. | | | |

| | | 10 Things You Need To Know About Dredd Dredd, out on September 7, is the second big screen adaptation of comic book legend Judge Dredd, implacable lawman in a brutal, post-apocalyptic future. Karl Urban is set to play the one-man judge, jury and executioner, with support (or not) from Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey and Domnhall Gleeson. Here's a quick introduction to the big man. |
| | | Empire Meets William Friedkin It's not everyday you get to chat with a bona fide legend of cinema - if it was, your eyes would probably pop out from the excitement of all - so the chance to meet William Friedkin, director of The Exorcist and The French Connection, was far, far too good to pass up. He's back with his punchy trailer-park morality tale Killer Joe, while putting the finishing touches on his memoirs and gearing up for the fortieth anniversary of The Exorcist. Busy man, and, as luck would have it, a very entertaining one too. |
| | | The Secret Screen Life Of Scott Fitzgerald "There are no second acts in American lives," wrote F. Scott Fitzgerald - a man who'd clearly never seen From Dusk Till Dawn - and his screen life bears witness to that fact. A giant of American literature, his work hasn't adorned the big screen with either the frequency or quality of peers like Ernest Hemingway or Henry James. But there's more to the story. With Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby out this winter and Empire's August issue debuting some dazzling pictures from the set, we've dug up a trove of Fitzgerald treasure to prime you for his latest moment in the Hollywood sun. |
| | | Tyler Perry: An Introduction It takes a big man to step into Morgan Freeman's shoes. Luckily, Tyler Perry is 6'5" and not afraid to take on the role of detective Alex Cross, previously taken by Freeman in Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider. As he gears up for the simply-titled Alex Cross (out November 30), here's what you need to know about the phenomenal rise of Tyler Perry... |
| | | Eduardo Sanchez On Lovely Molly Blair Witch co-director Eduardo Sanchez is back with a new horror film that could scare the pips from your apple. The American filmmaker, who did so much to revolutionise the genre with his found-footage style, uses those camcorder chills in a slightly different way in Lovely Molly: a housebound horror that sets happy newlywed Molly (Gretchen Lodge) on an increasingly nightmarish journey into her past. Even Empire's Kim Newman was impressed, and he don't scare easy. We sent one of our top men down to talk to Sanchez about his frightener and get the low-down on his next project and a possible return to those Blair Witch woods. | | | |
