| Limping, exhausted and festooned in geeky T-shirts, we're back from a San Diego Comic-Con that blew our minds. Loki turned up to rule the crowd, Joss Whedon revealed the title of The Avengers sequel and Duncan Jones showed entirely-unheralded clips of his World Of Warcraft concept reel - but surely the most exciting news of the entire weekend was Zack Snyder's revelation that the Man Of Steel will be a Superman Vs. Batman movie. Once we stopped hyperventilating, we sat down and had a think about what the film might involve, and the questions Snyder needs to answer - including the big one, who would win in a fight. Also this week we published our mammoth Comic-Con videblogisode, looked at the biggest surprises of the Con and brought you an examination of the evolution of Wolverine as that film comes out this week. If you're a fan of the hairy mutant, look out too for this week's podcast, where we not only interview director James Mangold but also quiz Hugh Jackman himself on his signature role. There's more unrest in District 12 and more signs of unrest in the other districts after Katniss' unconventional victory last time around. "Something's changed since last year," says her sister Prim. "There's hope." More: New Clip From Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity Arrives Update: And another... 47 Ronin Trailer Sweeps In Keanu goes samurai. Nothing Left To Fear Trailer Online First horror film from G'n'R's Slash arrives. Marvel's Agent Carter Clip Arrives Hayley Atwell kicks bottom. The Wolverine is out this week, see, and he goes to Japan, and it looks like he's the best there is at what he does, and what he does is eat using Wolverine-themed chopsticks. This is no weather for fat boys. Empire's design guru Chris Lupton is absolutely right. The Game Of Thrones Exhibition And The New Way We Consume Stories A few weeks I was over in Northern Ireland and went to see the Game Of Thrones exhibition at Titanic Belfast. This location is not to be confused with the Titanic, which was built in Belfast but now lies under the north Atlantic, nor Titanic Studios where Game Of Thrones has its base, although that's visible from the gallery. The Titanic centre is the flagship (no pun intended) of efforts by Northern Ireland Tourism to get people to visit the province, and Game Of Thrones and its temporary exhibition is now a part of its success. It got me thinking about the way we express fandom now and the way our relationship to our favourite shows and films is changing. The Comic-Con 2013 Videblogisode Is Here! Wrapping up our coverage of this year's Comic-Con, the Empire videblogisode is here with a round-up of the entire event. From the Con's beginnings in 1970 to the celebri-palooza that was this year's event, our Chris Hewitt explains it all. | |
| | | Comic-Con 2013 Podcast Special: Marc Webb, Hayley Atwell It's been one hell of a Comic-Con this year, with Avengers 2 getting a villain, the whole of the X-Men: Days Of Future Past crew turning up and news of Superman teaming up with Batman in a crazy crossover film idea. There to cover it all was Team Empire, and here is the podcast special to prove it, complete with interviews with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb and the one and only Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell. |
| | | Comic Con 2013: Shailene Woodley Talks Divergent Bringing its faction action to Comic-Con, Divergent is the movie we're legally obliged to stop calling 'The Next Hunger Games'. Avoiding the 'h' word - and the 'g' word for that matter - we tracked down its cast and director amid the Hall H hubbub to ask them the big question: what... the... heck... is Divergent? Shailene Woodley, Neil Burger, Maggie Q and the rest of the ladies and (diver)gents of the cast took up the story. |
| | | Comic Con 2013: Marc Webb On The Amazing Spider-Man 2 There's absolutely nothing itsy or bitsy about the next incarnation of Spider-Man. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is promising a bigger, bolder and more bruising spin on the Marvel superhero, freed from the shackles of origin storytelling and, as director Marc Webb told Empire at Comic-Con, given free rein to be himself. Here's what he and co-producers Matthew Tolmach and Avi Arad told us. |
| | | Comic-Con 2013: Harrison Ford Talks Ender's Game Forget words like 'tentpole', 'franchise potential' and 'massive author-caused controversy', because, let's face it, what Ender's Game is really about is sending Han Solo back into space. A "lightly sedated" Harrison Ford, at the San Diego Comic-Con with director Gavin Hood and stars Asa Butterfield and Hailee Steinfeld, told us what to expect from the movie and shared his thoughts on the 'Con. |
| | | Comic-Con 2013: Tom Hiddleston Talks Loki, Thor & Avengers 2 After he rocked up to Comic-Con's Hall H last Saturday and blew the roof off as Loki, Tom Hiddleston stripped off his Asgard duds and had a chat with our Chris Hewitt about Thor: The Dark World and The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, as well as explaining exactly how it was that he came to be in costume onstage. |
| | | Comic-Con 2013: Jennifer Lawrence On Hunger Games: Catching Fire Since appearing in The Hunger Games, life has changed a lot for Jennifer Lawrence. She's gone from being a critically acclaimed but largely unknown actress to being an Oscar-winner for Silver Linings Playbook and everyone's ideal best mate. As she returns for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, we asked her how things are different on set as a result - and she claims she's transformed her whole value system as a result. |

| | | Superman Vs. Batman: The Questions To Be Answered After Zack Snyder's shock announcement in Hall H at Comic-Con on Saturday that the next Superman film would also be a Batman film, there are some big questions to be answered. As Snyder himself said, the project is in the very early stages and is a long way from being written, but we thought we'd mimic the discussions no doubt taking place right now at Warners and over at David Goyer's house and address some of the dilemmas this film has to figure out... |
| | | The Evolution Of Wolverine He's the best there is at what he does - and today, what he does is wearing a bunch of different form-fitting costumes. Wolverine has come a long way since his introduction as a Hulk antagonist, and as The Wolverine's release approaches, we thought we'd take a look back at the different fighting duds he's worn across various comics throughout the years. Warning: contains tiger stripes, shoulder pads and quite a lot of hair product. |
| | | The Biggest Surprises Of Comic-Con 2013 This year's San Diego Comic-Con was busier and more exciting than ever, and despite having a packed schedule of stuff we already knew was going to happen, it managed to cram in any number of surprises that were stuffed up the organisers' sleeve until the last moment. On Saturday in particular, Hall H was the scene of the sort of mass hysteria usually associated with particularly wild rock concerts, like Glastonbury without the mud (just as many tents though). The crowds who camped out to see the first footage from films like Gravity and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes were rewarded with a veritable ocean of A-list guests and some huge announcements. Here were the biggest shocks... |
| | | The Breaking Bad Interviews The final half of the final season of Breaking Bad premieres in the US on August 11, and in anticipation of finding out what will happen to everyone's favourite chemistry-teacher-turned-meth-baron, here are 12 in-depth interviews with the cast and crew of AMC's award-winning crime drama. From Vince Gilligan, the man who started it all, to Mark Margolis, Uncle Tio himself, this is your one-stop shop for Breaking Bad insight - though if you aren't completely up to date with the show, stay away until you've watched the first part of Season 5, then come back as soon as is physically possible. | Cornettos! The World's End T-shirts! Cornettos on The World's End T-shirts! One of these Cornettos glows in the dark, although we'll have to wait until 9pm to find out which. If you need us, we're leaning nonchalantly against a wall. P.S. These The World's End T-shirts go on sale on Monday. In the meantime, here's a competition to enter if you want to win one... Hugh Jackman thinks Norwich City needs a new mascot because a canary's a bit lame. His words, not ours! Joel Kinnaman has not watched the RoboCop TV show ahead of taking the role onscreen. Nic Roeg loves Clueless. 21 Jump Street director Phil Lord's parents hated 21 Jump Street and couldn't bring themselves to say one nice thing about it. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' directors were asked to add the word "shit" so it would be a PG, not a G, in the US. | | | | | | | | | Dolphins have names? | | Ice ice baby from the movies. | | Here's Guardians Of The Galaxy's Drax The Destroyer (aka Dave Bautista) holding a baby raccoon. | | Meet Dr McNinja. If you watch, eat, play with and don these in the right order, you'll be as ripped as The Rock. We just have to figure out the right order... The Wolverine An improvement on the last outing for Jackman's not-so-merry mutant. If only it trusted enough in its unique setting to forgo a descent into aggressively awful formula. Also Out Jack The Giant Slayer Far from the giant mess you'd expect from the delayed release, late title change and a production history as muddled as the source material, Singer's tall tale is snatched from disaster by an all-hell-breaks-loose third act.
