| Run Fat Boys Run You might find this hard to believe, but we're not the most active lot here at Empire towers. In between guzzling cupcakes and sitting on our arses watching movies, we don't find time to fit in many bouts of cardio-friendly exercise – unless walking to the vending machine at the other end of the floor counts. So it should be taken as something of a comedic enterprise that a whole bunch of us have committed to attempt a 10k charity run next weekend for Everyman - the UK's leading prostate and testicular cancer campaign. Now a lot of people do sponsored runs, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a group as ill-equipped to undertake it as we at Empire. Our training to date has consisted of a few reps with the airport-sized Toblerones Sam brought back from Cannes, and there's already a sweepstake as to what point along the route Chris Hewitt will actually keel over and die. So if you find the idea of tubby film critics gasping their last for charity amusing or just think it's a worthy cause, please sponsor Team Empire by clicking here. | | | | | Lost: The End "Endings are hard. Any chapped-ass monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible. You try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the ass…" No, that's not Dickens or Shakespeare (or even the Earl of Oxford) writing about how it's difficult to end a story, but Chuck Shurley, the meta-comment prophet who writes up the adventures of the Winchester brothers on Supernatural. | | | | | Road To Perdition (Blu-ray) This is supremely crafted, grown-up moviemaking that never escapes its pulp origins.
