| This Week... What a week this was. Sunday saw the Jameson Empire Awards finally take place in London, with a huge turnout of actors and filmmakers, a huge laugh for Danny DeVito's amazing monkey story and a huge knees-up to some '90s music at the after-party. On Monday, Dolph Lundgren turned up at the same time as a bucket full of kittens (not even kidding) and took one for a cuddle. You really haven't lived until you've feasted your eyes upon that sight. On Wednesday, Peter Berg, Taylor Kitsch and Brooklyn Decker arrived in the office before most of our staff had even woken up to talk Battleship, violence and getting advice from Kevin Costner. And by Thursday, we'd spoken to cast members of Titanic and Wrath Of The Titans for good measure, as well as recording another Empire podcast. Frankly, it's a miracle we're still standing. We might need a sit-down. Helen O'Hara Deputy Editor, Empire | | |

| | | | | The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale: Meet The Walkers The second season of AMC's The Walking Dead has split audiences. But whether you hold the series as a compelling zombie drama or a dragging talk-fest, there's little doubt that the finale delivered a gripping example of how good it can be. In fact, it's the best instalment since the cinematic, Frank Darabont-directed feature-length pilot. As Hershel's amusingly-isolated farm was finally overrun by hordes of Walkers, there was bags of zombie carnage, plenty of incident and a final shot that will have many of us - especially fans of the graphic novel - wishing that the third season started next week. For anyone wishing to read on, it goes without saying that major spoilers are to follow. | | | |

| | | | | Jameson Empire Awards 2012 Sunday night saw the annual hootenanny that is the Jameson Empire Awards take place in London's Grosvenor House Hotel, attended by the great, the good and a few Empire staffers as well. Michael Fassbender, Tim Burton, Tom Hiddleston, Gary Oldman and Olivia Colman were among the winners at a packed-out event that saw a few surprises, some creative heckling and an astonishing anecdote about a monkey. Read all about it here, and in a future issue of Empire. The Winners The Awards: As It Happened Exclusive Photos Watch All The Acceptance Speeches | |
| | | The Empire Podcast #5 Is Here! The fifth episode of our brand-new venture hits today, and it's a cracker. It features Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, Nick de Semlyen and pod newcomer, Dan Jolin, blathering on about the week's movie news, from Anchorman 2 to a dissection of the Jameson Empire Awards and more. |
| | | Sam Worthington On Wrath Of The Titans Sam Worthington returns as Perseus in this Clash Of The Titans sequel with a bigger haircut and even bigger monsters to kill. We managed to track him down for a chat about titan slaying when he was in London recently and even managed to record it all on camera. Pretty neat trick, eh? |
| | | Anchorman, Explained The news that an Anchorman sequel is officially underway has us all a-flutter, so let's take a moment to look back on the first film in graphic form, and consider the lessons that we took away from it. Lessons? Oh yes, this wasn't just a laugh-riot, a brilliantly improvised and utterly anarchic adventure in great suits and impeccable moustaches - no, there were wise life lessons to be gleaned from the film as well, and we've gathered a few below. After all, if we can't learn from the 1970s' premier San Diego news team, who can we learn from? |
| | | How Deep Is The Mariana Trench, In Movie Terms? Last weekend, James Cameron dived to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. It's about seven miles deep, deeper under the Earth's surface than Everest is high. But if you are - like us - a movie lover who views the world entirely through the lens of cinema, how deep is that really? We've taken a few other massive things for reference, and here we explain it in film terms. |
| | | Sylvester Stallone Movie Poster Mashups Once again, our creatively minded readers have knocked it out of the park with a movie poster mash-up challenge, turning Sylvester Stallone into a series of amazing movie posters. From the heartbreaking romance of Dear John Rambo to the Oscar-worthy drama of There Will Be First Blood, it's all here. Read it and weep with laughter. |
| | | A Spotter's Guide To Modern Dance Movies When Step Up 3D came out a while back, we published this guide to the recent spate of dance movies. With this week's release of Streetdance 2, we thought we'd update the guide to include this new contender and other recent offerings. Since many of these films share a considerable amount of creative DNA, and since not everyone can remember which is which, we bring you a cut-out-and-keep guide for when you just gotta (watch) dance. |
| | | 10 Great Mad Men Moments Pour yourself an icy beverage, put on your fedora and find the remote control (it's under the sofa) because Mad Men is back on our screens. After an 18 month hiatus, AMC's Madison Avenue period piece is back with more of the ongoing - and stupendously stylish - lives of Don, Roger, Peggy, Pete, Joan and co, all presented with the kind of elan you'd only find in the boardroom of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. To mark the occasion, Empire has dusted off the box sets and selected, in no particular order, ten Mad Men moments that knocked our dress socks off. Soak 'em up, then add yours in the usual place. |
| | | The Ultimate Pirates Picture Quiz There are many, many pirates in The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists. You've got The Albino Pirate, The Pirate With A Scarf, The Pirate With Gout, and The Surprisingly Curvaceous Pirate, to name but four. But despite the extreme pirate-ocity of The Pirates!, there are many more swashbucklers out there in cinema-land, from Long John Silver to, um, the space-based Long John Silver. so to celebrate these plunderers of the high seas, we've assembled this motley crew for you to identify - just work out the film they're in and hey presto, one free dubloon. | | | |
