New Jurassic World Stills, First Dumb And Dumber To Trailer, 100 Best Films Of World Cinema, 15 Movie Sports That Are More Fun Than Football

Celebrate our anniversary with our special offer!

It's Friday the 13th! We are currently reinforcing the office against incursions from Jason Voorhees (or indeed his mother) by locking doors, barricading windows and ensuring that all nubile young people are banished from the building. We hope you remember to take similar precautions: remember, on no account should you split up to look for a missing friend today and never, ever tell anyone that you'll "be right back". Elsewhere, the World Cup has, of course, started and driven parts of the office into a flurry of excitement and parts of it into desperate attempts to avoid the whole thing. For those of you who are OK with global competition but less keen on football, we have updated the 100 Greatest World Movies list to include some recent triumphs not in the English language. The football-agnostics among you can put together your own tournament with the countries featured there, and see how the giants of world cinema match up to the giants of world football (clue: Japan does better in cinema; Spain's pretty mighty in both fields). So it's all both 100% football free and kinda 100% football related, because we're sneaky like that. Enjoy!

First Trailer For Dumb And Dumber To
Back in March, we snagged an early look at the first trailer for Dumb And Dumber To, which sees the Farrelly brothers bringing the adult Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) back to our screens for the first time in 20 years. The promo was aired across the pond last night and has arrived online.

The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema - Updated!
As is traditional, the start of a World Cup has prompted us here at Empire to take another look at the very best of world cinema and celebrate the sheer breadth of talent and innovation taking place beyond the English language. From host country Brazil to Japan to France and Senegal, from neo-realism to Dogme to J-horror, we've compiled a list of the finest films not in the English language (note: features, not documentaries). So rustle up some sushi, strike up a Gauloise and make sure you've locked your bicycle as we count down the top 100...

    The Empire Podcast #115
While the World Cup encourages many to pay more attention to leathery spherical objects getting pushed around a field by 22 people over in Brazil, the Empire Podcast continues to talk about what really matters: film, TV and why If.... boasts a four dot ellipsis instead of a three dot ellipsis.

    Karen Gillan Talks Oculus
Karen Gillan's lead role in magic mirror horror Oculus sees the former Doctor Who star dealing with fragmented timelines, brain-bending looking glasses and plants that keep dying. Shot before Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy turned her into a despicable blue bald alien, it's only now being released here in the UK on June 13, which just so happens to be a Friday. Speaking to The Girl Who Waited over the phone, the resulting interview is ever-so-slightly bonkers - but in a good way, of course.

15 Terrible Biopics To Rival Grace Of Monaco
Staggering onto our screens this week comes Grace Of Monaco , a little punch-drunk from its Cannes mauling but ready to run the critical gauntlet again. It's just your typical boy-meets-girl, boy-falls-for-girl, boy-gets-distracted-by-battle-to-save-tax-haven romance. But poor Grace Kelly isn't the only public figure to have their memory exposed to the horrors of a shonky biopic. Oddly, it's often the deeply unjust who flourish in these big-screen treatments (Hitler, Idi Amin, Macbeth), while the great and good find themselves in sub-par biopics. With that in mind, here are a few of the princess's fellow casualties.

Classic Feature: God Among Us - Marlon Brando
The back-of-a-cigarette-card capsule summation of Marlon Brando's contribution to cinema is as the man who brought the Method to the movies. In fact, Brando's most notable acting coach was Stella Adler, mistress of traditional stagecraft and technique, not Lee Strasberg, whose Actors' Studio dictated digging into your soul to find the character. The most Method of Brando's film roles came in the first four years of a long career, from the paraplegic in The Men (1950), to ex-boxer Terry Malloy in On the Waterfront (1954).

Michael B. Jordan Talks Fruitvale Station
Recounting the shocking story of Bay Area twentysomething Oscar Grant, Fruitvale Station is an impressively controlled yet seriously impassioned piece of filmmaking from newcomer Ryan Coogler. It's also a terrific showcase for the talents of Michael B. Jordan, a coming force in Hollywood, who spearheads the film with skill and commitment to emotional honesty. Empire sat down with them both, as well as Jordan's co-stars Octavia Spencer and Melonie Diaz, to talk about their roles and Grant's story.

Movie Child Prodigies (Ranked For Annoyance Value)
Amelie filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet wants us all to meet The Young And Prodigious T.S. Spivet this week, thereby adding another talented tyke to the canon of genius kids on film. We decided to see which of those tots are charismatically smart and which get on our last nerve (Spivet's the former, for the record)...

15 Movie Sports That Are More Fun Than Football
"It's an odd boy who doesn't like sport," sang Viv Stanshall in 1968. "Sport turns out a jolly good sort." That may well be true, but which sport? For those of us odd boys and girls who may not be completely swept up by the arrival of the World Cup this weekend, perhaps there's an alternative among this collection of (often rather bloodthirsty) filmic follies to fire your imagination...
